  1. EXERCISE ON PAGE 125 #3 ON LUKE 2:1-21:

What is the action of each scene? See Below

What is the theme of this story? The birth of the Real King

What is the tone? Heavy, burdened, bondage

Is there any irony? Maybe a baby becoming your savior?

How do the scenes work together to produce a complete narrative? The story starts by proving God does what He has already said in the past through the prophets in the OT. Once the story starts we have confirmation that this baby is the Savior and the story is believable. Shepherds believe, Mary believes and ponders in amazement, angels believe, other people hear and believe. The Truth is off and running.

Does the story hint at any themes or conflicts that you might expect to find in the remainder of the book of Luke? Well Luke is known for promoting Jesus as the God Man so certainly this chapter 2 account is the foundation of that story coming to reality. He was indeed fully man (Natural birth and flesh) and He was treated like any other man in the way that he was circumcised. Luke will go on to confirm God’s prophesies about the Messiah and how He would live and die.

SCENES AND ACTIONS OF THE SCENES:

Scene I: The actions of the current ruler. Taxation and control by Caesar Augustus.
Scene II: The birth of the Long awaited King. ( The God Man)
Scene III: Interaction between Meek humans and angelic messengers
Scene IV: Reaction to Good News, v.15.
    Scene V. Truth confirmed and proclaimed, v.16-18 & 20.
    Scene VI: Mary Pondered
Scene VII: The naming of the Savior by obedient parents.
