Pushing Through
Remember how God revealed His presence to the Israelites so that they would find their way through the desert? God created a pillar of dust by day and a pillar of fire by night! As they walked, there was this swirling noise above the bleating of the sheep and the hooves of the camels. As they walked for miles on end, looking down at the sand that revealed more sand, they could take a look up at the pillar of God’s presence and be reminded why they were on this journey – they were free. They were ex-slaves and were no longer in bondage because of God’s grace!
I don’t think any of us expect God to give us a pillar of fire nor dust a mile high to guide us. That was just one of many expressions of God’s presence. Every day is different! No expression of God’s presence is the same. They are as different as each individual snowflake, as unique and diverse as the sea of people on the face of this earth.
Worship pushes us through the desert. When the people of God are truly free, we sing and nothing can restrain us.
Then Moses and the Israelites sang this song to the LORD : “I will sing to the LORD, for he is highly exalted. Who among the gods is like you, O LORD? For he is highly exalted. Who among the gods is like you, O LORD?
Who is like you—
majestic in holiness,
awesome in glory,
working wonders?
